School-Community Partnerships

It takes a village. We’ve all heard this saying. Today though, it is truer than ever before. When we think about the success of our students, we must ask ourselves, who is responsible for ensuring that Lacey Spring Elementary produces lifelong learners and contributors to society? The simple answer is everyone.

However, we must acknowledge that, in order for our students to succeed, there has to be cohesion and open communication amongst stakeholders. What does this mean? Students, staff, families, and the community are linked and all have the same vision: student success. The role we each play is pivotal. Every day there are opportunities to educate and nurture the intellectual growth of our students. For each one of us to partner in striving for student success, that is a pathway to a strong and supportive school-community.

Practically, this means that we should each reassess the way in which we feed into the development of our youth. Are you a student? Use kind words to encourage and build up the people around you and yourself. Are you a staff member? Remind yourself why you chose this profession and reflect on the wonderful progress your students have made this year. Are you a parent? Enjoy every precious moment of your child’s life and have fun helping them to learn in every moment, knowing that it goes by too fast. Are you a community member? Know that our students see you and they are learning from you. Model the behavior you wish to see in our society and showcase the best of who you are.

Always remember, we are in this together.
